Predictions · the heart of HeyFini

The baby app that learns your rhythm

Feeding, diapers, sleep – HeyFini works out from your last few days when it's probably time again. So you know whether that walk still fits in before the next feed.

In short: HeyFini learns from your entries when your baby usually feeds and sleeps, and shows the next feed, the next diaper and the next sleep as a time window, such as "3:47 to 4:07 pm". The calculation runs on the iPhone, with no account and no server. Predictions are part of HeyFini Pro, logging is free.

HeyFini home screen with predictions as a time window: next feeding 15:47 – 16:07, next diaper 15:47 – 16:07

How does HeyFini know when the next feed is due?

HeyFini looks at the actual intervals of the last few days and builds a robust average from them – recent entries count more, and a single outlier like that one long morning nap doesn't skew anything. On top of that the app learns your daily pattern: intervals are often shorter in the afternoon and longer at night. The result sits right on the card as “approx. 15:10”.

The entire calculation happens on your iPhone. There is no server analysing your data.

What exactly does HeyFini predict?

The next feed, breast or bottle, the next diaper change and the next sleep – each with a time. In the Schedule, the 24-hour view, you also see the rest of the day in advance: predicted naps as blocks with an estimated duration, and upcoming feeds as dots on the timeline. Individual times turn into a day you can plan.

Why a time window instead of a time?

Since HeyFini 4.0, feeding, diaper and sleep show a window like “3:47 – 4:07 PM” instead of “approx. 3:57 PM”. It comes from the spread of the gaps at the same time of day, never narrower than ten and never wider than 45 minutes. A regular baby gets a narrow window, a changeable one an honestly wide one.

A tap on the line opens “Why this prediction?”: the last entry, your gap at this time of day, the age-typical wake window for sleep, a short nap before it, and how reliable the number is right now. Trust comes from being able to see the calculation.

How accurate are the predictions?

Honest answer: it's an estimate – and it gets better with every day you track. After two or three days it matches most babies' rhythm surprisingly well; on cluster-feeding days or during growth spurts it shifts along as soon as new entries come in. The prediction doesn't replace your gut feeling – it gives it a time frame.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly does HeyFini learn our rhythm?

HeyFini shows a first estimate after the very first entries; after two to three days of regular tracking it becomes stable. The more regular the rhythm, the more accurate the times.

Do I need an internet connection for predictions?

No. The calculation runs entirely on your iPhone. The app only needs internet for iCloud sync between your devices.

Will I get a reminder when it's time?

Yes – if you want, HeyFini sends a notification for the probable next feed or diaper change. You can switch it off in Settings.

Why does HeyFini show two times?

Because a prediction is a range. HeyFini shows the window in which the next feed, diaper or nap probably falls, as narrow as your rhythm allows. Tap the line and HeyFini explains where the number comes from.
